Jays Fire Assistant GM

Post#1 » by mini » Sat Jan 24, 2009 5:38 pm

I don't necessarily think this is overly newsworthy but it seems like an odd statement/memo to send out after firing the guy. J.P. really appears to lack people/media skills.

"Please be advised that Bart Given is no longer an employee of the Toronto Blue Jays," general manager J.P. Ricciardi said in a statement.

"Bart wishes to remain in baseball, and can be reached at this phone number Thank you."

I don't know the circumstances behind the firing so maybe it's justified.

yes exactly. Not earth shattering news that will rock us to the very core, but certainly an odd time and an even odder press release...

"Bart wishes to remain in baseball and can be reached anytime at this phone number, thank you"

JP doesn't usually... lack people skills so it would seem as if something went array here...

I never knew the Jays had an assistant GM lol... Anyone know the impact this assistant GM brought to the team? Apparently he's from Ontario, and is pretty young (35 years of age)...

Well that was no a press release, but rather a msg to other teams. But still, sounds like JP. You don't have to worry about JP having the cajones to fire anyone and everyone, but himself.
