Your Mt. Rushmore Jays?

Inspired by the Mount Rushmore article, they have the following as the 4 most prominent individuals of each team.

Here are ESPN's picks:

Toronto Blue Jays
Carlos Delgado, Dave Stieb, Roy Halladay, Pat Gillick

Rationale: Delgado is an easy pick as the franchise leader in home runs (133 more than Joe Carter) and RBIs (318 more than George Bell). Stieb won 175 games and made seven All-Star teams with the Jays. You could argue Carter for one of the final two slots, based on his World Series home run and string of 100-RBI seasons, but the fact is he's probably the most overrated player of the last 25 years and was never the best player on those teams (Roberto Alomar, John Olerud, Paul Molitor, et al).

So who are yours?

I'm a bit of a new fan, so my choices would have been: Roberto Alomar, Carlos Delgado, Joe Carter, and Roy Halladay [yes, all of them are within my "era" :)]

I'm going to keep it to players only. It's hard enough to pick 4 without giving a spot to a GM.

My choices, in no particular order:

Dave Stieb: He was the dominant pitcher for about half of the team's history. The saga of the no-hitters that weren't to finally getting one is one of the great storyline's pre-World Series. Not to mention he was a darn good, underrated pitcher.

Roy Halladay: The dominant pitcher for much of the second half of the team's history. The numbers speak for themselves, the Cy Young, his amazing ability to toss complete games in the era of lefty specialists and closers. And his pure class.

Carlos Delgado: Most of the reasons are obvious. Letting him go was one of he biggest mistakes the Jays have ever made, and they still haven't been able to replace his production all these years later. Plus, he was simply a ton of fun to have around.

Joe Carter: The home run. Yes, it's just one moment, but the biggest in the history of the Jays and one of the biggest in the history of the sport. Plus, it's not like he sucked the rest of the time - his numbers were rock solid. I've never understood how so many people can call him overrated. Although, most of those people are in the media, not the fans.

Honorable Mention: Lloyd Moseby. Still my favorite Jay of all-time. The current edition of the team could learn a lot from the way he played the game. Starting with stealing a base or two!

An interesting thing is that other than Halladay, as far as I can see nobody else even rates a second thought since Delgado left. Whereas from the early 80s through the 90s, you had so many great players to choose from. Roberto Alomar, George Bell, Tom Henke, Duane Ward, John Olerud, and so on.

Alomar has to be there above Joe Carter.
Roy Halladay gets in for me.
Dave Stieb for old school fans.
Then Cito.

I think both should be in... It's debatable if Alomar should get in and not Carter... since we're taking about 4 players that identify the Blue Jays franchise, I see a hard time leaving the player that had one of the biggest hits in MLB history left off the list...

Halladay, Roberto, Carter, Delgado to cover the hole range give them each their "own" spot light over time.

I think Delgado leaving was a big mistake imagine having his bat in our line up right now.

You cant call Carter over-rated because he won us the championship, even if its one swing that gets us the ring or an entire seasons worth of swings, as long as you get the ring some how you get the fame. Specially if its only been twice in a teams history and that one swing being one of them.

Yup.

Delgado didn't do enough here for long enough. Bell makes the list over Carter; the dude was great in the 80s.
