WT: Riccardi doesn't foresee firesale

And by firesale they're basically referring to trading Halladay. I certainly am not a proponent of trading Doc, but if the right offer comes along you have to consider it. Just a few years ago the BoSox got traded Hanley Ramirez for Josh Beckett; it would take that kind of top-flight prospect for such a trade to even be considered.

I seriously doubt that he'll ever be traded for purely financial reasons. The fact of the matter is that he's actually on a relatively cheap contract considering what aces get on the open market, and because he's the face of the franchise I've got to believe that dumping Halladay would actually have a negative economic effect on the team. It would be extremely hard to justify the deal to the public.

Now if any team was willing to touch Ryan I'd dump him in a second.

Update: http://baseball.realgm.com/src_wiretap_ ... is_summer/

I'm not too familiar with Mets farm system, is there anything that would be remotely worthwhile? Obviously they wouldn't be too inclined to give up Wright or Reyes.

I'd imagine they killed their farm system by trading for Johan Santana and JJ Putz over the past couple of years.

I think their top prospect is Fernando Martinez, and he's an OF, and considering the glut of OFs this team has, there's less value...

If we have to firesale, it's because of him. If we firesale, the first one to go should be JP. The new GM can decide who stays and who goes.

Wright or Reyes would really have to be coming back in any deal with the Mets IMO, they don't really have much else to entice us with.

Without knowing their farm system I'm inclined to agree, but I don't think the Mets would be too interested in that deal.
