Mulder will sign soon + other FA pitchers?

It appears as the one time Cy-Young candidate Mark Mulder is signing with a team according to his agent. 6-8 teams are believed to be interested.

WIRETAP:
Agent Gregg Clifton says that Mark Mulder has been working out and could sign with a team within a week.

Mulder is also expected to work up to 100 pitches in a minor league game within the next few weeks.

The Dodgers are among "six to eight" teams interested in Mulder, according to Clifton.

Also there are a few other pitchers that I think can quickly climb there way up in this thin rotation and play well for us. Paul Byrd, Odalis Perez and Pedro Martinez are other FA pitchers that are available.

What do you guys think of Mulder and the other bunch?

Mulder is going to make some team very, very unhappy...his numbers post-2003 have been bad and getting worse. I'd hesitate to call him replacement-level at this point.

Ditto Perez, whose primary attribute is his ability to put up poor results in large doses, essentially eating innings on bad teams.

My feelings on Pedro are well known.

Byrd is easily the best of the bunch, in that he could probably hold down the #4 or #5 slot in a lot of rotations...he's unsigned largely because he's an admitted HGH user, and teams are only usually willing to forgive good steroid-abusers.

All of this, except for the Paul Byrd thing. Teams don't care about steroid/HGH users unless they are big names.

I suspect a contender will grab him in the summer.
