Rios you need to trade to a team that lacks outfield players and has a surplus of good prospects or a decent starting pitcher. No way in the world the Tigers trade Cabrera, they'd trade Dontrelle for a smoke and a pancake though.

Maybe something like Rios for Matt Cain and a prospect...but that's about all that we can get for him.

i think rios will bounce back soon. he was an all-star 2 years ago, competing in the HR derby (made it to the final round)

i'm glad the other guys are stepping up in the team. once our 3 and 4 spot gets rolling, this team is gonna be hawt!

No need to panic and trade a guy way below his value. I still think Rios is a good player, and has the tools to become a regular all star. As long as the team is doing well, producing runs, I really think that there is no need to trade for a "more productive" outfielder. I think that any trade for a pitcher involving rios is going to be a quick fix. At the present, we are clearly very short of arms, but I think that long term the jays have a good pitching staff and just need some time to get healthy.

If you look at the talent on the DL right now at the starting pitching spot, the jays have a lot to work with without making any moves. (oh ya and its still april)

do not trade rios, he has the ability to be the best hitter in the line up when he is on point. besides, trading him now would not bring anything much back considering how he has struggled to this point.

I dont want Rios traded at all.

But if we do want to trade him, why do it when his value is as lowest it really can be? His potential will be there in 2 months even if he dosnt break out, and you know an outfielder will get injured making a team really go after someone.

This is the worst time to trade the guy.

Rios to Cincy for Johnny Cueto and Chris Dickerson

Rios to Atlanta for Jair Jurrjens and Brandon Jones

Trading Rios is almost certainly a bad idea for a reason other than him reaching his potential on another team.

Vernon is 31 and has been playing center for 7 years now. His legs won't hold up there for that much longer, and he's not exactly injury free. While right now it seems like we have a lot of outfield versatility, neither Lind nor Snider can come anywhere close to handling playing in the middle. As for the minors, the only potential major leaguer at the position is Eric Eiland, and he is a long while away and far from a sure thing.

Alex is three years younger than Vernon with considerable less wear on his legs from playing right. He is pretty much the only guy who we can send to center if Vernon is injured, and certainly the only guy in the system who will be capable of playing center once you can't send Wells out there any more. So unless you're getting a near ready at least serviceable CF prospect back in a deal, trading Rios is playing with fire.

I wonder how close that Lincecum deal was. We know JP wanted the deal to go down. But did SF ever really consider it?

That would be highway robbery for the Jays. There's no way Rios could fetch Cain, nevertheless Cain AND a prospect. He'd be #1 on quite a few teams in the league, and if it wasn't for a craptacular Giants batting lineup over the past couple of years, his record would look a lot better than it would indicate right now.
