Scutaro finds his place

Probably the only guy in the world who thought Marco Scutaro would make a fine leadoff man was Cito Gaston. Given that just about everything Gaston touches turns to gold these days, it stands to reason that Scutaro, in the early days of the 2009 season, has racked up some impressive leadoff numbers.

Scutaro, who never had led off -- "maybe a game, here or there" -- until he got the assignment from Gaston last year, leads the majors in walks (28), runs (31) and on-base percentage (.400) and is in the top five in several other categories.

That's a pretty impressive story by Fidlin.

Seriously, this guy has been one of my favourite players for the Jays this year. As I said in the gamethread, he is probably one of the toughest outs in the league at the moment.
