Its been a very small sample size but so far hes looked incredible for a young pitcher pitching in his first 2 starts. The most impressive part to me is that hes only walked a total of 2 batters. Im not sure he has the overpowering stuff that Kazmir does but he really reminds me of a much bigger Kazmir...He even looks like the guy lol.

He's probably the 2nd best pitcher in the entire Jays organization behind Halladay, and he has several plus major league pitches already (particularly his slider). Considering that, I'd say his ceiling is quite high (future ace or #2 starter?).

He's also really not that similar to Kazmir (which is probably a good thing considering Scott's control problems and fly ball tendencies ).

I see Cecil as a #2 type guy. He's got very good (but not great) stuff. Good movement...good control...good out pitch. Hard to say what anyone's ceiling is. Did anyone see Cliff Lee having a season like he did last year?

I still think McGowan has better raw stuff...but he's definately going to be a good contributor for this organization for years to come (barring a trade).

I was always very high on Cecil as he was highly touted getting drafted. Based on scouting opinions and his performance so far, I see him a a Chris Carpenter #1 type pitcher.

But than again my view is biased as I think Ricky Romero will be the next Santana.

I think he competes for the number two spot with McGowan, its too close to call for me on who becomes the better starting pitcher

I think McGow still has a slight edge on Cecil in terms of closest to #2 starter potential. Unfortunately the injury cloud will always be looming over Dustin, but otherwise I think his stuff is better.

I can see Cecil plateauing at 18 wins tops with an ERA hovering around 4.5 or lower for his career. He's going to need a strike-out-looking pitch to freeze batters as a top 2 pitch in his arsenal, since batters will lay off his breaking stuff soon enough.

Man, we have a ton of arm talent. Kudos to JP on this. Great problem to have.

Cecil's got a solid 4-seamer, a sinker, that slider and a weird changeup that works pretty well.

His slider is a strikeout pitch, but if he develops that sinker, he could be a Halladay type (in principle, not effect) with a good K/9 rate and a lot of groundballs.

I think he's got #2/3 stuff in him, certainly, especially on a good defensive squad.

ah.... this reminds me of the time we had Carpenter, Halladay, and Escobar all coming up at the same time..

Watching him he kind of reminded me of Ted Lilly, good stuff but not that great control. Regardless, I see him being a 2/3 starters but you never know with pitchers there days how could he can be, he could be an ace for all we know.

Either way, all these young pitchers excite me if they can stay healthy, Romero Cecil Litsch Marcum McGowan Please stop getting hurt!

I think that Cecil has ace potential. He really has impressive stuff. Keep in mind that he's a lefty and most of them do not throw the same velocity as righties. Also, if you look at Johan Santana's stuff, he will rarely throw above 92 miles per hour.

Either way, he'll be a big part of our rotation in the future.

Among Cecil, Mills and Romero who is expected to be the best?

He's very likely to be really good.

McGowan might have better potential, if he can stay healthy and develop consistancy.

Cecil is closer to the promised land: he's got good walk rate, gb rate, k'd enough comming up and has major league potential stuff.

It is likely when Halladay moves on (in 2015 after 6 rings) that Cecil anchors our rotation going forward. He might not be the best number one in the league, but it is possible that he could be our number one and we could have the best rotation.
