ESPN: Blue Jays quietly have AL's best record

Instead of assaulting general manager J.P. Ricciardi with the question, "When are you going to trade Roy Halladay?" inquiring ball writers can feel free to ask "Who the heck is Scott Richmond?"
If Boston, New York and Tampa Bay had broken out of the gate quickly and left the Blue Jays in their dust, contending clubs everywhere would be assembling trade proposals for Halladay, who will enter the "walk year" of his three-year, $40 million contract this winter.
Quietly, subtly, the question has been turned sideways: If Toronto contends for a playoff berth or makes the postseason, could it improve the chances of re-signing Halladay before he approaches free agency?

After Ricky Romero and Jesse Litsch joined Dustin Magowan, Shaun Marcum and Casey Janssen on the disabled list, Toronto was forced to summon reinforcements.
I suppose even the vaunted NYT makes some mistakes. haha

Nice article, good to see the Jays get some big press from ESPN.
Thought that it was weird for one of the top bullpens, possilby the top bullpen for the last 2 and a bit years should be described as unheralded. They shouldn't be, but, ah well, this start is gonna change that.

If the Jays were even 15-17 right now, Halladay would be on the block. The media is watching for one slip up before the rumblings of Doc leaving TO start up again.

Halladay isn't going anywhere. He'll accept a discount. He likes it here, and we like him just the same.

Halladay deserves kudos for staying loyal so long but he's getting up there and if the Jays don't get any postseason action soon I can see him bolting for a shot at some big game experience before he gets too old.
One major plus for us to him being here so long is that he's probably set up roots here. Has he set up family here?
