What's gone right (and wrong) for Blue Jays

Blue Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi, like Jays fans, realizes June will be a pivotal month for a Toronto team in the thick of the AL East race.

“We could be .500 for the month and still be a game out,” Ricciardi said.

The Jays won’t play a divisional rival until June 29, when Tampa Bay pays its first visit of the season. July could be the toughest test of all — 17 of 24 games against divisional rivals. Based on their strong start, the Jays have a chance to challenge for first place.

“That wasn’t on our radar,” Ricciardi said of the club’s fast start, which kept them atop the East until a nine-game losing streak on the road.
