For me, nothing but a sweep will suffice against these reeling Royals. A 5-4 homestand isn't great at all. I'll take 6-3 though.

Romero's starting again? Ugh, that's not encouraging, especially against Greinke, who you KNOW will be stingy about baserunners, let alone runs.

Romero's looked terrible in his last two starts and I'm really not interested in spotting 4 or 5 runs to the Royals and trying to fight back. Our run production has been solid on the season at 5.04 R/G against a league average of 4.88... but including today, we're at 3.2 R/G since the start of that 9-game losing streak, and that's WITH a 10-run performance. It's improved of late, we're at about 4.2 over the last 6 games, but even that's below league average and problematic.

Taking that up against Greinke is not reassuring. Here's hoping the bats get something early and whomever is actually pitching (because I hope it's not Romero) settles in quickly.

Hmmm....Romero's start to the season could have been a fluke, and he likely won't have a string of games like that again, where he pitches 1.70, at all for the remainder of the season. That being said, I think we can expect a stronger outing from the rook, considering his past two starts he has been horrible and likely can't get any worse.

I can also foresee Richmond having a quality start. Guy hasn't pitched a meaningful inning in quite some time, so we'll see if he can further increase his chances at solidifying his spot in our wonky rotation.

Doc is the only pitcher I see getting smacked around in this series. Let's hope he can at least go 4 1/3, keeping the Royals bats at bay with 5-6 runs max.

Just kidding about that last part there.

I don't think it matters much, but I'd rather have the hot/cold Romero against Greinke and steadier hands against Hochevar and Davies...odds are very good we lose the first game, but have a good shot at taking the next two.

2 of 3 seems reasonable, but I've lost all confidence in this team..Greinke is going to mow them down tomorrow, no doubt about it.

im starting to get pissed!

but anyways, I think against Greinke, especially seeing this is our 2nd go around, we should probably fare a bit better against him. I think when he throws his breaking stuff with 2 strikes, you more or less have to stay off it. He loves that low outside breaking pitch. We really have to look for fastballs because he's definately gonna be huckin em. He'll use fastballs as an outpitch too, so even with 2 strikes you can look for it.

I dunno though. The guy is pretty effin good. Any updates? How is Snider doing in Vegas.

...he's on the 7-day DL as of today, I'm afraid. Tweaked his back from the sounds of it...nothing major, but disappointing.

A ton of my confidence will be restored if the Jays can hand Zachary a loss. Playoffs maybe.

One of the Jays' prospects (Mark Sobolewski, who coincidentally had a good night) has the same sort of stare going on...less confrontational, but even more creepy. The slight smile indicates that he has seen your soul, and finds your innermost feelings humorous:

The Royals are playing terribly recently...the Jays really should win 2 of 3. Too bad about facing Greinke with our worst starter tonight though.

I will take Romero over Janssen, thanks.

Romero can K a guy, at least. You know what you're going to get from Case. A sh*tload of line-drives to our lethargic outfield defense, and 5 1/3 innings on a great day.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'd rather have our better pitchers against more hittable competition too. I'm just sour that we have a very slim chance at the opener, that's all.

I noticed yesterday that "VDub" was religated to a 20million$/year pinch runner. I'm wondering what other jobs the Blue Jays orgainization might find for "VDub" to recover any sort of return on their investment before his contract is up.

-pinch running
-stealing cars with coat hangers
-picking up "the guys" and driving them to the park on time
-filling in for David Wells on Flashback Fridays
-pitching the 9th during the opposition team's blowouts
-PA announcer
-throwing the ball to Overbay coming back to the dugout
-personal batboy to Michael Young when we play the Rangers
-buy a Rogers cell phone

I'm sure I'm missing a few ideas related to ushering, 7th inning stretch activities, and artificial turf maintanace, etc.,, but I just wanted to point out that it may be possible for "VDub" to justify his contract in some rather unconventional ways.
Is anybody here a marine biologist?

Haha, why does everyone think Vernon is trying to steal the car in that commercial?

It's his car, he just left the keys inside...which they failed to show. But that would make more sense, no?

I mean, not like I care or anything. :P

tonight, zack greinke's tears will flow.

I imagined him retiring after the game during a press conference. Basically the synopsis is that the blue jays beat him up for the first time and it hurts his feelings. After the game he is placed on the 60-Day DL because he got the hiccups. Promptly initiating his retirement due to tears.

btw: double you tee eff alexis.
