Not that the Jays are interested in trading Roy Halladay, but GM J.P. Ricciardi is surprised about the lack of interest around the league, nonetheless.

"We haven't gotten one call," Ricciardi said.

The Blue Jays survived a nine-game losing streak and still hung within 2 1/2 games of first place in the AL East, through Friday.

"I don't see him going anywhere," Ricciardi said.

Halladay will be a free agent after the 2010 season and the Jays are hoping to extend him.

"We've got a surplus of good, controllable young pitching. If we perform offensively, we could be in this thing. Without him, we know we can't.

"We're not going to be a playoff team without Roy Halladay."

This really isn't surprising. Riccardi is a vet and other executives know not to bother asking for the impossible. This is a bit like a team calling Dan Ferry with an offer for LeBron: it's a waste of time.

agree with you ^.

No one is going to go after the best pitcher in the league right now, when our team is in the thick of things. Id expect calls in late July early August if we are nowhere to be seen in the standings.

Plus if an elite team wants to trade for Halladay, they need to downgrade their number 1. Maybe trade their own number 1 for a bat? What if by chance Roy dosnt work out?
