I'm not a fan of interleague play as well. When we are home it's ok but I hate the no DH rule in the NL parks.

I actually love NL baseball, but I'm still looking forward to this series. It's too bad that HanRam is going to be out today though, he's a fun player to watch.

HanRam seems to be in the lineup. Where did it say he wouldn't be?

Whoops my mistake. Yesterday I caught the 9th inning of the Marlins game and the announcers mentioned him getting a day off because of a groin injury. I must have misheard them, but I thought that they were referring to today's game because Hanley was playing at the time. Little did I know that he had his day off and just came in to pinch hit.

As a sidebar, the only game I've ever been to at Yankee Stadium (or any other major league stadium not called the Skydome for that matter) was a Marlins game in 2006. This was when the Marlins were incredibly young and had a payroll of about 25mill but they still managed to be very competitive, to the extent that Joe Girardi won manager of the year (in spite of this he was still fired by Jeffrey Loria in the offseason). It was also Hanley''s rookie season. At the time Ramirez was just about the only player I could recognize on their roster, and he pulled out a couple of hits as the Marlins won. It was awesome.

Got the weak part right. I defended Wells earlier in the season, but he has been absurdly bad over the past month...before tonight, he was at .221/.278/.292 since May 9. Those numbers are only slightly below John McDonald's career .236/.275/.309, for the sake of comparison...

I know man. Before that game where he had a double and a triple I remember hearing that he had 2 hits in his 8 games prior... that is absolutely unbelieveable. Realistically this guy should be our #8 or 9 guy with his numbers. I too defended v-dub for ahwile but he's just way to 1 dimensional and everyone knows it. So long as you don't miss with a mistake fastball on the inner half, your virtually guranteed to get V-dub out.

He's rarely even hitting the inside fastballs, though...Nolasco grooved him one early in the count and he didn't even consider an attempt. His confidence looks absolutely shot out there.

Memo to Rod Black: being a compensation round pick means you were a high pick. It's not actually some surprise blessing when a comp-rounder is putting up an OPS+ in the low-80s at age 24.

ahhhhh so glad i don't have to listen to rod black. I can't underscore that enough...

And ya wells does look totally shot. I too was surprised he didn't turn on that fastball that was grooved too him... He's out thinking himself alot. sometimes he's lookin for that first pitch fastball and he's left lookin foolish and then sometimes he elects to work the count and he wathces one down the pipe... but more often than not now, it's a steady diet of away away away, i don't know why they'd even "show" him an inside anything at this point. I sure wouldn't.
