The Jays are winless in six interleague games, having been swept by Atlanta and Florida to this point, with the Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals salivating about the prospect of facing Toronto this week.

Despite Toronto's anemic record, the AL still had put together a record of 45 wins and 39 losses against the NL in 2009, heading into last night's action. That continues a trend that has gone on for the past five seasons.

Starting in 2005, the AL has won at a .569 clip (621 wins, 471 losses) in interleague games. During that same period, Toronto has a 35-43 record against the NL.

"It's hard to explain. Some teams beat up on you -- some teams don't," Toronto manager Cito Gaston said. "I remember that Milwaukee, before they moved over to the National League, used to wear us out."
