You guys got to check this story out...... Really cool/funny
http://mlb.fanhouse.com/2009/06/20/fake ... ht-of-fan/
If you've tuned into a Blue Jays game at the Rogers Centre this year, chances are you've seen Tim Williams and Joe Farrell. If those two names aren't ringing a bell -- and there's really no reason they should -- how about a description.
Williams and Farrell, both Jays season-ticket holders, often take their seats in the first row behind home plate dressed from head to toe as umpires. Their impersonation of the men in blue doesn't end there. For the entire game, Williams and Farrell mimic the calls of the umpires, raising their arms and bellowing out strike calls, sticking up their fingers to let fans behind them know the count and brushing one hand over the other emphatically to signal foul tips.
I think it's awesome that we have some sort of "cult" coming from Blue Jays fans! We know there haven't been too many fans showing up for the past few seasons, so it's nice that we have some sort of theme going on started by these gentleman...... and if you keep reading, these guys are getting huge props and recognition from the States as well (New York, Washington, etc..)
Have any of you guys noticed these umps? I guess I never really paid attention, but I sure will now!

Definitely saw them in the Nationals series...they even made it on the field during the president race.

I noticed them early on in the season... found it funny at first, then found it kind of annoying, now I'm used to it I guess i don't even really notice them. That's awesome though they were in Washington... it was funny seeing them hand different fans balls after someone fouled it away. They're definately creative though lol

Ugh, this is typical of one of the few things I really don't like about Toronto. Instead of being known for fans who love the team, our jays superfans (Annoyingly, I would add, but that is a matter for debate. I guess.) are pretending to be the impartial arbitrators of the game.

I just think its for fun, they are just trying to get a laugh out of people. Your taking it too seriously, its funny and is gaining attention.

After the first time (which was funny), I found it to be extremely annoying. I certainly don't need to see these guys pop up at various road games this season.
Stop trying to divert attention from the actual play on the field to yourselves, you buffoons.

It was funny the first time, but it's well past being a tired act.

I think they are great , if you have never seen them but only seen clips of them the clips don't do them justice. They are away more entertaining then some punk on a cell phone talking to his buddy waving

The first time I saw them it was funny.
The second time was alright
by the third it was just sad.
It's awesome that these guys are having fun and enjoying the Jays, but clearly they just want their 15 minutes and I think they have already ran over.

These guys are awesome, you gotta love them unless you're a really bitter and miserable person

well i dont know how you can really blame them for being into the game... For the past 10 years, has there been really any type of cult or drama from the crowd? I think it's a good thing that fans are being more involved in the game, and even better that it's getting national attention.. Has the US media *ever* talked about the Blue Jays crowd? Ever since the record setting attendance in the glory years, none since..
But I can understand now it can get tiresome after the 2nd or 3rd time

I don't know . people around them seemed to love these guys, they were handing out balls sometimes after a foulball and noticed people laughing every time they punched out guys. Hell, they even got invited on to the field to ref the presidents race when they ejected Thomas Jefferson for arguing with a call.

I guess I am the only one who doesn't find these guys funny. The fact that they went through all that trouble to get all the official umpire uniform/equipment seems really sad who wants to be an umpire really? that being said i am jealous they have the money for those seats, to blow on useless uniforms, and being able to travel to their road games, must be nice to have money and no responsibilities.
The first time I saw them it was interesting now it's just annoying, I can only imagine how the people sitting behind them feel, also they are clearly doing this for attention, do you think they would be doing this if there seats were not right behing the dugout? I doubt it.
