Minor league game ends with 51 runs scored

Probably not thread-worthy, but this game was just too demented to overlook. The High Desert Mavericks (Seattle affiliate) and the Lake Elsinore Storm (Padres affiliate) played a 33-18 monstrosity that saw the Mavericks surrender 32 hits, 13 walks, 5 errors, and 4 wild pitches.

Needing a sacrificial lamb for the ninth, they threw out a former Jays farmhand and the starting catcher, Jose Yepez...the first three batters he faced promptly hit home runs (they left him in to surrender another after HR and a double after recording a single out). On the bright side, at least he went 3-4 with a walk, 1 HR and 4 RBIs before making the switch.

Six different players for LE scored four or more times, and all nine batters in the lineup reached safely at least four times. Lake Elsinore's starter left the game with a tidy eleven-run lead, despite giving up eleven runs himself...had he recorded one more out, he would have gotten the win.

High Desert is an amazing hitters park. Always has been.

Also, the Cal League is absolutely demented. It's has the bandboxes of the Pacific Coast League, just with worse pitching. The entire High Desert team is slugging .515, which is like having a team full of Aaron Hills.
