Jays need to win this series to have a shot at contending. The pitching matchups look good but Wells/Rios have to step it up.

I know there are 80 games left, but this series is really important. Hopefully we could rock AJ, Doc can shut down the Yanks like he always does, and Romero pitches another gem. I'm scared for Richmond though... bad against LH's in the new yankee stadium? That one could be a slugfest, at least it's against Wang

I think the jays will win this series, the bluejays offence always shows up against good teams especially on the road.

I thought the season already ended the other day when Upton hit that home run?

Yeah, really hate to say it. Losing the series would, at the very least, put us 6 games back of the wild card with the Yanks, Rays, and one of the Angels/Rangers all ahead of us. Let's face it, chances to play meaningful baseball in September would be slim, let alone getting into the dance. Just like how the chances were when we were atop the AL East in mid-May-- unless you're the BoSox or the Yanks, they won't favour you. This team just straight-up isn't talented enough to string together 10-12 games in a row to keep us in contention.

I'll be here though, regardless of how deep we are in the AL East. Let's hope we can at least salvage a split against the Yanks, and fair decent in the subsequent series' against the Rays and O's to keep within striking distance of the WC.

I actually believe we'll put up a fight this series, as we've surprisingly done against other solid teams in their ballparks (see: Texas, LAA, Philly). But if I'm wrong, oh boy.

Yeah, reactional/frustrating comment. I can admit it. But this series will probably have a greater influence on the rest of our season than that one did.

i can understand the reactionary comments.... this team has been sooooo inconsistent that it's very hard to guage this team! for example, i can totally see the Jays sweep the Yanks.. but then lose the next 5 of 6... what the heck kind of momentum is that?!

Trust me. Baseball is an unpridictable sport as it is, but this team takes it to a whole next level.

The Jays are five games back in the loss column and have 3 teams to catch for the Wild Card. Two of those teams are clearly better (NYY/TAM). This is a long shot at best. I guess all we can ask for is a legit race until September.

If the Jays take 3/4, then they gain two games on NYY. That should be the target. A split will be OK for a 4-game road series, but it would be breaking even, which the Jays cannot afford to do.

we should be a lot better than we are, we have the pitching and the hitting

this series could be the turning point, either way, on the season

Who are these two "umpire" fans who always sit RIGHT behind home plate dressed as umpires (mask and everything).

Those guys are hilarious.... they seem to follow the jays around.. I'm assuming they're jays fans? But how the heck do they afford those seats in every ball park?? They must cost thousands at yankee stadium...
