Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia could miss next week's All-Star Game as his pregnant wife remains in the hospital.

Pedroia declined to speak about the situation on Thursday night, but Boston manager Terry Francona raised the possibility that the reigning AL MVP could miss the game.

"No, his wife's going through a very serious time right now," said Francona. "I'm not sure how to answer that. I guess there's always a chance that he couldn't play because you don't know what's going to happen. But the plan is for him to play.

"Saying that, if he needs to not play I certainly would support that, and it's kind of stating the obvious. His wife is in the hospital. If he needs to not go, he wouldn't, but that's the same for everybody. ... He wants to play."

Well Pedroia shouldn't have been starting anyways. Hill has been a stud all year, the starting spot should be his.

This also makes room for Kinsler who should have been on the all star team in the first place.
