Home run derby tonight, 8pm

AL Participants
-Joe Mauer, Minnesota Twins
-Brandon Inge, Detroit Tigers
-Nelson Cruz, Texas Rangers
-Carlos Pena, Tampa Bay Rays

NL Participants
-Albert Pujols, St. Louis Cardinals
-Prince Fielder, Milwaukee Brewers
-Adrian Gonzalez, San Diego Padres
-Ryan Howard, Philadelphia Phillies

That NL field is scary, and obviously Pujols is the best hitter in the world, but I've got a feeling that Mauer is going to pull this out. He's the best contact hitter of the bunch, and I think he'll destroy whatever backup catcher they've got pitching.

This whole 'call your shot' contest is pretty silly.

Edit: And it turned out to be an embarrassing waste of time.

Wow, 4th deck. Cruz has some crazy pop.

Weak derby so far aside from Cruz and Fielder, hopefully Pujols can provide some excitement

Pujols looks like he's dead tired. I don't like his chances if he moves on.

They were debating what to call that little playoff, and eventually settled on 'bat off'. It's too bad they didn't think of 'jack off'.

It would be fitting if Josh Outman or Lance Broadway were the ones throwing to them.

Cruz has such an effortless swing. Hamilton last year, and Cruz this year... did Canseco leave his stash in the Rangers club house. :)

Well Doc went through that inning pretty quick. Doesn't look like he'll go a second one because he's due to hit in the top.

Edit: I stand corrected.

Rosenthal thinks Doc may even be traded within the division... seeing Roy in pinstripes would make me cry. :(

well this was unexpected from Doc...... he retired the first 5 batters he faced, and then the NL went on a 2-out barrage..

regardless, it's nice to see Doc getting this national spotlight, he truly deserves it.. and Hill with a number of putouts..

yup if you think about it all this talk of trading Roy has been the main talking point throughout this break. I was watching the fox stream earlier and even there they were giving him a lot of attention early in the broadcast.
