Halladay is so good, he has his own trade deadline

No link, but Wilner just said on The Fan that Riccardi has set a specific deadline for dealing Doc. He says he'll stop entertaining offers one week from now on the 28th.

It seems to me that this ultimatum serves two purposes. First of all it puts pressure on buyers to up their offers, but it will also allow JP to work on other deals before the deadline instead of wasting time on a potential Halladay deal which would likely be a deep long shot by that time. Considering how long the Doc trade talk has been going on, if they can't get it done in another week it's not going to happen.

I wonder if Rolen/Scut/??? can be flipped for a younger player at either (likely not both) of those positions?

I read somewhere that the Blue Jays were offered Edwin Encarnacion for Scott Rolen. He's having a slow year right now but he did hit 26 homers with a decent 807 OPS the previous season (.251 .340 .466 .807.).(289 .356 .438 .794 in 07 with 16 homers) He is a downgrade defensively though
