Well played.
Wonder what we're getting for him...I guess Bautista better be ready to play everyday.

2:56pm: FOX Sports says the Blue Jays will get Edwin Encarnacion and a minor leaguer. Rolen is expected to approve the deal.

Apparently it's Encanarcion and a minor league prospect...

Apparently the minor leaguer is Yonder Alonso. What a steal. This guy was a top pick in 2008 so he cant be traded to us until August where he signed last year. Big Bat at 1B

I hope you're right about Alonso. The guy sounds like he can be a good run producer if he lives up to his potential
Statistically speaking: After getting in six games with Sarasota in the Florida State League, Alonso showed just what made him the No. 7 overall pick in the Draft in Hawaii. He finished ninth in average (.308), sixth in OBP (.419) and fifth in SLG (.510). That made his OPS of .929 the fourth-best in the winter circuit.
Scouting report: A pro at the plate, Alonso should be a run producer with good plate discipline and power. Showed power mostly to the middle and opposite field in college, but will learn to turn on pitches. He doesn't run well, but he doesn't clog the bases and he's just fine at first base defensively.
Upside potential: A middle-of-the-order run producer who hits for average and power.
They said it: "He swung the bat the way everyone that had seen and scouted him thought he would. He hit some home runs and drove in some big runs." -- Reds Minor League Director Terry Reynolds
He said it: "I play with a lot of hunger. I consider myself a line-drive hitter. I can drive the ball, but I'm more of a gap-to-gap guy. I'm a very passionate guy. I take baseball very seriously. I'm a winner."

Wow that'd be sick if we got Alonso. 7th overall pick in 08. WHAT are the Reds doing

I can't imagine they'd give us a 22 year old, lefty 1st baseman with good potential.

All I can say is WOW. I can't believe Rolen could get Alonso and Encarnacion. Alonso was their #1 pick just last year. Encarnacion while having an off year is still a decent player. He has a career OPS around 800.

I find it hard to believe we're getting Alonso. He's the Reds' best prospect by far and one of the best hitting prospects in the minor leagues. I would actually consider not firing that joke of a GM we have if this is true.

It's NOT Alonso
3:14pm: Rolen approved the deal, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post (on Twitter). ESPN's Keith Law says Yonder Alonso is not in the deal.

When you think about it, it quite possibly could be Alonso because the Reds already have a young run producer in Joey Votto at 1st.
