PITTSBURGH (AP)—The Pittsburgh Pirates traded minor league right-hander Sean Smith to the Toronto Blue Jays for future considerations Friday.

The 25-year-old Smith, who appeared in the 2006 Futures Game at PNC Park, is a combined 4-3 with a 2.67 ERA in 25 games (four starts) split between Triple-A Indianapolis and Double-A Altoona this season.

Smith was a 16th-round draft choice of the Cleveland Indians in 2001. He was traded to the Colorado Rockies early last season and signed with the Pirates as a minor league free agent last winter.

Pittsburgh will receive a player to be named or cash from the Blue Jays.

The question is who we PTBNL'd here. While Smith has had a pretty decent season in AA, he was pretty awful last year and doesn't figure to be bound for glory.
