Rios picked up by Sox, nothing in return!
Press Conference on right now!

Since when does Weems bring any kind of defense to the court anyway?

JP is a DOUCHE. He keeps on referring to Rios as "the player". Like because he is off the team he no longer has a name.

I think Snider would be the choice, no? I don't know JP is a tool.

PC:
- Pure Salary dump
- Didn't want any players coming back (Sox didn't want to give up anyone they liked)
- Says there is a need at SS and Catcher

So apparently we're saving close to $59mil through 2014 with this move. At least that's what I heard via Connected.

Wow, the trade isn't as shocking as getting nothing back in return is. I guess we can look forward to another 5 year rebuilding project. Will Rogers even put any money into the team?

This was a casualty of that beast of a contract with Vernon Wells signature on it.

From the sounds of it JP likes Vernon moving on in the future with the young guns. He said that him, Snider and Lind form a good trio going into the future.

Remember the questions about the manner in which Rogers would proceed after Ted's death? I think this just about answers them...we could be facing some lean years ahead.

**** your asterisk.

Re: Rios picked up by Sox, nothing in return!
Having two of the same player is redundant I guess. So getting rid of the one who we could actually get rid off made a little sense. The slowest team in the league just got slower though.

Re: Rios picked up by Sox, nothing in return!
On the outside it looks like a horrible deal. There's really no way to sugarcoat it.
I would have loved to see VW "given away" , move Rios center, then bring up Snider.
Imo, at this stage of their career Rios is the better players, period. He's defense is superiod, he's hitting for a higher avg, HR's, better on the bases (SB) and his contract is easier to swallow.
Like someone else said, this move is basically J.P saying "VW's contract blows, we need to move the chairs around and because we can't get id of Wells, we're getting rid of Rios".
I also wouldn't be surpised to see Overbay gone as soon as possible.

WTF... this move makes no sense. But with JP as GM I expect these type of moves to happen.
We lose one of our best assets, no matter how terrible people think he is this year, for nothing.

Getting rid of Rios: Awesome
Getting nothing in return: Pure stupidity.
I'm happy he's gone, I was never a fan but you would think we could get something, ANYTHING in return.
Saving money is nice, Rogers will like that. I can't wait until they sell the team someday and I hope they never get their hands on the Bills.
