Jays vs. Tigers 9/11 - 9/14 2009

Post#1 » by tsherkin » Sat Sep 12, 2009 4:45 am

So we won, nice. Decent game from Tallet. Not amazing, but a lot better than usual. Over 6 IP, only 3 ER, great K/BB (7:2). Accardo looked pretty bad, but whatever.

Not thrilled that they hit two of our guys and we hit none, but at least Wells had a productive night at the plate (even with RISP!). Even Encarnacion had a decent night.

A win's a win, and this one wasn't awful. :)

Well, I guess this is a series thread now, since now one else wanted to do it, lol. I'll take another loss for the team, lol.

So tonight we've got Richmond versus Edwin Jackson.

I'm not super-excited about this game, but I do hope to see Hill and Lind continue to hit well, maybe another fine performance from Scutaro (0-1 with 3 BB is actually pretty wicked), that sort of thing.

SO, first batter, leftie, Granderson, homer. Then Barajas homers after the Overbay walk and we're winning, lol.

Rough at-bat for Snider; good eye on the second and third pitches out of the zone, then he just missed 95 mph heaters down and away and up and in. Ah well, at least his eye is developing, he just couldn't catch up to the ball.

Another freaking homer; Richmond is not at all on target today, this is going to be rough until we get into our 'pen, and maybe even then.

At least he got Granderson the second time around. Maybe he'll settle in now.

Alright, sothe offense has kept pace. If we can get another 1.2 IP out of Scottie without allowing any more runs, we should be OK.

He's having a terrible time hitting his spots, he's been in the zone only around 51% of the time. And now he just gave up a 3-run dinger. Crap.

4 BB, 3 K, 3 HR, 6 ER in 4.1 IP. This is not Scottie's best outting. In comes Carlson.

Alright, one more out and we're out of this mess of an inning.

EDIT: And there we go, inning done. That was a pretty good job by Carlson.

Let's see if our bats can bail us out now. Wells opens up.

EDIT 2: Jackson is still tossing 95 mph... Must be nice.

DINGER!! Wells with homer! That was significant. Let's see if the rest of the team can help. :D

Crap me, Jackson's tossing 96, 97 at Overbay. He got him out on a slider. He's got some ridiculous heat.

Carlson doing a pretty good job so far, that's 5 outs now and he's looking solid in relief. Jackson just blew fastballs at Snider and Inglett, killed with the slider. Scutaro homered, though, so we're in this thing, only down by one run.

Couple of strikeouts from League to open up the inning, nice. Not using his fastball as his primary tool, which is odd. Changeup and curve, mostly.

Another hit for Wells, good stuff, he's having a great game. A little late in the season to be churning these out, but it's nice to see. We need two runs to get back on top and we've got the lead runner on.

Jackson's gone for this inning, so we have been facing Brandon Lyon and are enjoying success now that Jackson's freaking heater isn't here. Overbay just walked again. Two on, none out.

Barajas popped out but Wells got to third. OK, not awful, kind of like a weird sac bunt, lol.

This one's up to Ruiz; Encarnacion had a long at-bat and then watched strike three go by. :(

EDIT: And Ruiz fails. Aww.
