The Mets would think so. Why wouldn't it be a good excuse for the Mets this year to say they were severely hurt by injuries? This link (
http://www.ihatethemets.net/2009/08/inj ... uries.html) says they've missed 1100+ games to injuries through August. I remember reading that the Jays of 2007 had the most games missed to injury in major league history! Twelve players went on the DL that year including Overbay, Halladay, Ryan, Glaus, Johnson, Burnett, and Chacin . Last year and this year, they've been without Marcum, McGowan, and Litsch. Yes every team deals with injuries but the Jays seem to have been bitten much worse than the average team, mainly because they've been injuries to starters. These kinds of excuses don't go over well with the fans because it sounds an awful lot like whining.
