Hopefully Romero can turn it around and finish the season on a strong note. He's had a rough second half.

I'm listening to Bill Simmons podcast (only because Matt Stone is on) but after that I'll maybe tune into the game and post a bit. Just for a change.

Wow, that's a nice game for Wells. Hernandez looked good, of course. Romero had a mediocre outing, and then Carlson did his thing.

Eh, that was a weak game, but at least Wells is producing this month, so maybe it'll continue over into next year.

Well, well, well... run production!! If this is Doc's last start, it's going pretty well so far. A 4-run lead and Doc's going strong; 7 IP, 6 H, 7 K and that's it. :D Go Jays!

8 IP, 6 H, 9 K for Doc now. :)

And that's it! A complete-game, 7-hit shutout from Doc to close out the season!

David Purcey has not improved at all, he throws hard like always but has very little clue on where to pitch and where not to pitch.

That's because he's bad.

Good to see Lind and Hill still producing, though.

Gutierrez's double that started off the 4th was on basically a meatball up the pipe. The RBI single was a terrible at-bat for Purcey, but the pitch that he threw that got hit wasn't; down-and-away two-seamer? Not bad. It was the 3-0 count to start that screwed him, though. Tuiasosopo hit a pitch out of the zone to start off the 5th. The double was on a bad pitch UP in the zone and over the middle of the plate to score a run. The wild pitch definitely sucked, though; Purcey's control is not that good. Then he walked Guttierez, and on the next pitch gave up a single. It was low, right on the black, but over the middle of the plate. Not a great pitch without setup, but not a bad one either. He gave up a walk and two singles before being pulled with one out in the 6th. Casey Janssen miraculously didn't let anyone score by getting the GIDP. Then he gave up three consecutive singles and a sac fly in the 7th, which sucked.

Boo.

Anyway, I've never liked Purcey, and his heat isn't even that great. He's got an average 4-seamer, in the 89-91 mph range. I never understood why people said he "throws hard," because he doesn't. He's not a fireballer, he has no control, and his secondary stuff isn't that good. Yes, his velocity in this start is a little down (his average velocity on the season is 91.5 mph), but even then, that's not really "throwing hard."

Meh.

At least the offense is productive. if we pull this out in the 9th, I'll be happy.

Adam Lind pulled out a walk, a flyout, a single and two CLUTCH homers (one in the 8th, one in the BOTTOM OF THE 10th) and we walk away with a W. NICE!
