Tonight could be it boys. My hunch is that Roy will be dealt in the offseason. As such, this might be the fans' last chance to salute the greatest homegrown starter in BlueJays history. If you hadn't thought of heading down to the old ballpark tonight, get your butt in gear and give Cy an extra cheer for me!

I got my tickets, I hope this game is packed and the next two are empty, it would be a nice statement to jays managment.

As far as I'm concerned Roy pitched his last game around the all-star break. He's checked out since then. Even that game against the Yankees was irrelevant.

Sorry if I'm wrong here, but doesn't 'checking out' mean to pretty much not give a damn anymore? In that case, what does an irrelevant one-hitter against probably the best offense in the league have to do with 'checking out'. I don't get what you're trying to say here. If you are trying to insinuate that Doc threw in the towel mid-season (even though it only looks like he faced some of the better offenses in the league, which were still decent starts btw), I respectfully disagree in the notion that Doc is probably the most competitive baseball player I have ever had the pleasure of watching live.

Yea J-Roc. Does checking out mean a 1.80 ERA and 3 CGs in his last 5 starts? Like sensi said, how can a CG 1-hitter against NYY be irrelevant? If 2nd half starts are irrelevant, then Doc has had about 150 of them in his career.

He got hurt in July and struggled against the best teams in baseball. That's normal; he's not literally the machine that we affectionately think he is.

I hope we don't trade him because knowing JP and the other morons running this team they'll manage to screw up the trade. Then we'll suck and lose one of the greatest Jays of all time.

I'd rather that we suck with Halladay than without him. He (along with Hill and Lind) are the only reasons I still tune into a Jays game anymore.

It's pretty clear from his body language that Roy has already mentally left the Blue Jays, but he's too proud to stop trying altogether. He's had some bad starts since the trade deadline, but here are his stats since the end of July: 5W-6L, 2.73 ERA 1.28 WHIP, 73K, still pretty awesome stats.

I'll be sure to be watching what will probably be Roy's last start as a Jay tonight, but it will be annoying to watch the Jays make Tim Wakefield look like a good pitcher as they always do.

Might I point out that his SEASONAL ERA is 2.90? He's 3-2 with a 1.80 ERA having given up 8 runs in 40 innings in the month of September. That's not him "mentally leaving" the Blue Jays. He's pitching as well as he ever has. He's given up 3 homers, he's throwing 68% strikes, he's thrown 2 shutouts and 3 complete games (one was a loss when he gave up 4 runs but struck out 9 and walked only 1 and gave up only 9 hits).

That's not "too proud to stop trying altogether," that's Roy kicking the crap out of people after having a rough August. He had 3 mediocre starts in August (two of those were actually just straight-up bad), but you're implying that he's not trying his hardest and he's actually pitching his best ball of the season!

I have nothing but respect for Roy Halladay, and would never think he would pull a Vince Carter on us. This has been a VERY depressing season, the fans have left, so who can blame Roy for not trying his best on every start.

In terms of his peripherals, the 2009 season ranks right there with his best years (well, so does his ERA, too).

J-Roc, no need for two accounts if you're going to say the same thing.

Okay, okay, sorry for suggesting that Roy isn't anything but human. You can make a strong case that he's the best pitcher of this decade, but just to play devil's advocate, what is his motivation for giving 100% on every start? The season is in the tank, and has been for months, he has been awesome for years and hasn't pitched in even one meaningful game in September, the fans have abandoned the team, he isn't in the running for Cy Young (probably going to Felix Hernandez or Zack Greinke), and he's getting paid no matter what he does. Of course there's personal pride, but who doesn't lose faith every now and then?
