OT : A Plea for Help
Posted: Tue Sep 29, 2009 3:04 pm
Dear fellow RealGMers,
On Saturday the Philippines was hit by Typhoon Ondoy (international name Ketsana) leaving hundreds dead, thousands displaced from their homes, and millions of dollars in property damage. Typhoon Ondoy deposited a month's worth of rain in just 6 hours. To give perspective, Hurricane Katrina brought about 250 mm of rain, while Ondoy dumped 450 mm. This caused extreme flooding, in some cases with ocean type currents. On TV I witnessed a family drown after being swept by flood currents and smashing into the pillars of a bridge. It was horrific. To make matters worse, another storm will hit the country in a couple of days. Typhoon Ondoy continues its wrath with Vietnam being hit as well. People are in dire need of help and support in any way possible. I humbly ask for help from all my fellow Canadians and RealGMers. Donations are badly needed and would be much appreciated.
