Jays unhappy? So is Gaston

"That the clubhouse isn't happy with Cito is accurate," said a scout, who saw the Jays play recently. "My first question would be which players are unhappy? If it's Roy Halladay or Adam Lind or Aaron Hill, well then there is a problem.
"But, if it's a guy hitting .220, a guy not earning his money or delivering, someone who is letting the club down, well then the problem is not Cito's, it is the player. Until the last week or so, we didn't know if this bunch was going to win 70 games."
Gaston has put on the Jays uniform more than anyone else in the club's history and has enjoyed post-season success, something no one else currently wearing Toronto's colours has done.
We remember telling then-general manager Gord Ash and then-chairman of the board Sam Pollock how players were unhappy with Buck Martinez late in the '01 season.
"They aren't happy with Buck? Well, they weren't happy with Jim Fregosi, they didn't like Tim Johnson and they didn't like Cito," Pollock snapped. "I say they have lost all rights to complain."
Beeston is not going to fire Gaston, who is signed to manage the Jays in 2010 for $2 million US.
