Mets reliever J.J. Putz filed for free agency on Saturday. Putz opted to become a free agent one day after the Mets declined his $9.1 million option for 2010.

A total of 120 players have filed for free agency since the World Series and 60 more could by the Nov. 19 deadline.

Our bullpen isn't crap. For the second consecutive season, it was pretty solid.

Putz, on the other hand, is coming off two injury-plagued seasons with very scary WHIPs, averaging over 5 BB/9 both years. If he has fallen so far that he's available for a short deal at under $2m/year, maybe...otherwise, I'd rather not touch him.

Someone will pick up Putz with a guaranteed contract, but if he's willing to accept an incentive laden contract, then why not.

This is OT. Also, the bullpen is the least of the team's worries.
