Lose him via waivers to Rangers

My reaction to this is somewhere between 'meh' and 'good riddance'. It would be just meh, but I remembered Cito thinking he was a left fielder last year.

Really, when I think about it, there are a lot of players on our team I would otherwise like (or at least have no problem with) if not for usage. I know that this is beyond their control, but it doesn't help. I'm going to refer to this as 'The Cito Effect' from now on.

I already don't particularly like him, but Bautista is definitely my prime Cito Effect candidate for next year. Probably John McDonald too.

The fetish for using light-hitting utility infielders in left pre-dates Cito...it's something of an organizational tradition at this point. Tosca used to play Dave Berg in left field, which should have been grounds to terminate him without compensation.

Yeah, Gibbons did it too, with Howie Clark (though surprisingly not in Clark's last go around here). And it's not just left, Berg and Clark were used in right.

Still, at least neither of them tried it with the McDonald.

I think that he started a couple games this year in LF, and came in as a defensive replacement at least once, because I remember thinking "HOW IN THE **** DOES USING A GUY WHO HAS NEVER PLAYED IN THE OUTFIELD AS A DEFENSIVE REPLACEMENT MAKE SENSE!?"

And yes, I did think it in all caps.

Yeah, to be clear, when I said neither of them, I meant Gibbons and Tosca. Cito definitely did start the PMoD in left, plus use him twice as a defensive replacement; it's that level of confusion and fury that causes The Cito Effect.

Also, I just recalled that Cito justified it to boost McDonald's FA value. Which seems to have worked petty well!

He definitely tricked one foolish team into overpaying.

Inglett had a great season in 2008 but it was pretty clearly a fluke. I won't lose any sleep over this.

Joe Inglett was a phenom! (In MLB 09 the Show) -- He was definitely an intricate part of my AL East winning team.

Unfortunately his ratings in the game didn't transfer to real-life success. Good luck in Texas.
