via MLBtrBlue Jays reliever Jeremy Accardo hopes to be non-tendered tomorrow, writes MLB.com's Jordan Bastian. The righty, 28 this month, dealt with a groin injury and bounced up and down between Triple A and the Majors this year. He earned $900K.
This is too bad, but I don't think anyone can honestly blame him for feeling this way. He got jerked around badly this past season.

The only way he'd play everyday is if he stayed with the Jays. And was left-handed. And looked like a Depression-era drifter somewhere in the American Midwest, because there's something about Jesse Carlson and his gangly frame and sunken cheekbones that always leaves me thinking that he should be wearing overalls in a Don Draper flashback.
But yeah, he has earned the chance to stick in the bigs somewhere.

Why did the Jays have such a hate on for him? Perhaps there is more to the story because I think he can definitely pitch! Pitching isn't an easy thing to find. Why don't they hold on to him and trade him for something.
Sad to see him treated the way the Jays did.

i thought I heard rumblings that this was part of the problem between Cito and the players.
so maybe Cito has an issue with him? not really sure though

Can't blame him he really got jerked around last year. The guy can pitch and he deserves a chance somewhere.

They tendered him, which is a good move...I would guess that he has a decent amount of value despite his mishandling. It's the last thing he wanted (and for good reason), but I would expect that they'll deal him shortly.

He and Cito don't get along, like many others on the team. Cito also stupidly pondered out loud last spring about stretching him out to start.

I would way rather see him trot out every 2-3 days than Brandon Freakin League.

His injuries and frequent flyer points have certainly tainted his value, but truthfully there aren't a lot of guys out there who have a 30 save season on their resumes. It would have been a mistake to non-tender him.

Not surprising.
Problem with him is that he got injured at the wrong time (after his 30 save season) and never got right until recently, thus allowing him to boomerang back and forth because of his time served. Now that he's healthy, he's definitely an asset to move in the future.

No ****. It didn't even make sense what JP was doing to the guy.
Still, I think the best move would be for the Jays to tender him, trade Downs and make JA the closer. Just give him the gig right out of spring training. And if he raises his value with another 30 save season, now AA has another asset he can deal.

Agreed. The way they handled JA last year told me there was either something personal between JA and JP or JP didnt have a clue.....probably a bit of both. Either he or Frasor can close for us and Downs will get us the most in a deal.

All the reports are something personal between JA and Cito, not JP. JP probably just had no reason to keep up a player with options when he knew the manager wasn't going to use him.

It's incredible that Cito was considered the quintessential player's manager back during his first run with the team while this time around he's pissing off players and even forcing a team mutiny where they went above his head.
Did Cito change his ways or did the modern day player change? Or both?

Neither, in my opinion. I think the difference is winning.
