Does Jarrett Jack remind anyone else of..

..Chauncey Billups?

Now some people might think JJ is already being overrated or that I'm going too far, and don't get me wrong Jack might never be the player Billups is..but let's see neither player relies on athleticism, neither is a franchise player, they drive to the hole when needed, good defenders, they hit big shots late in the game, flashy passes, personality, and most importantly...LEADERSHIP.

Billups played for 6 teams before he led a team to a Championship. JJ has previously played for two if i'm not wrong, JJ is already showing a lot of leadership qualities, he isn't the type of guy you'd expect to drop 30 PPG, he will contribute in different ways, and step up when the team needs him to...which has been Billups' role on the Nuggets and Pistons. Billups has been mentoring Ty Lawson, who happens to be one of the best rookies from the 2009 class, and I could see Jarrett Jack doing the same to DD or to any other player in the future

What do you think?

I can see why you'd think their games have similar approaches (although Billups is without a doubt better, let's be honest) but a big difference is Jack can't get his in the post the way Chauncey can.

At the beginning of the year I said he had a bit of Billups in him and now his 3 is falling too. That sequence today, where he was battling with Landry and boxed him to the ground, was f****ng amazing.

He's just an old school kind of PG... definitely reminds me of someone (non-hall-of-famer), but I can't put my finger on it.

he reminds me of Jason Kidd

Also, he's a much better slasher/driver than Billups

Jarett Jack has by-far became my faviourate raptor. His leadership and what he brings to the team is something that is necessary for any team going forward. He seems to be well liked by his team-mates and has good chemistry with the team.

If he continues his consistent play--we should definately make him out starter.

He's one of the most all around point guards when his shot is falling. Good slasher, shooter, defender, passer, can't really ask for more from a guy. Wonder if Indiana is kicking themselves for not re-signing him.

Jack at 26 is pretty much exactly where Billups was at age 26. But Billups was a rare case of an extreme jump in effectiveness around age 27-28.

This is what I wrote when he was signed and my thoughts haven't changed:

"OK I admit, I'm a little biased here. I'm a Raptors fan from TO who happened to go to uni at Georgia Tech at the same time as future Raptors Chris Bosh and Jarrett Jack. I saw Jack lead the Jackets to a Final Four without Bosh. He's the perfect complement to a guy like Jose and we'll even be seeing them on the floor together at times--late game situations in particular. On the Pacers, he actually played the majority of his minutes at the 2. He's a big, physical guard who can defend the entire perimeter. His shooting and range have improved in the NBA as well. He's going to make dumb mistakes for sure. He tends to think he's a better ball-handler than he really is and he'll make some dumb passes.

But it's the other things that he'll bring that will add value to the contract. He'll be a vocal leader on and off the court. He's an intelligent student of the game and a great interview. He's very durable and hustles. He'll stand up for teammates. And I'll guarantee you he'll hit some huge shots that will make him a fan favorite along the lines of an Alvin Williams. He's one of those throwback players that all winning teams seem to have."

He hasn't changed and isn't going to. Chauncey had a huge jump in production in a system he was perfect for. Maybe that happens to Jack too. Who knows.

Billups used to be pure shoot first pg scorer... It wasn't till he went to Detroit I think that he really showed his leadership and how to run an offence. They may be similar now, but they got here differently

I said he reminded me of Billups back in 2005 when I wanted us to draft him with the 16th pick :D

I even e-mailed Chuck about it and he agreed with me at the time

Mix of LBJ, Wilt, and MJ

In all seriousness - Billups is a pretty good comparison.

Watch, Jack will have a bad game & everyone will want him shipped out of here for peanuts.

Talk about bi-polarity. Wasn't evereyone hating on him earlier on this season? (Although I'm sure most of you will diligently claim that you NEVER lost faith in Jack).

I give credit where it's due, Jack played great tonight, he's a solid PG, but his game's nowhere near Kidd's, maybe in some ways he's similar to Billups, but even that's a long shot. Billups makes late big 3's at will, Jack made some tonight but he's not that consistant with them.

Can you not see how he's a totally different player now then he was at the start of the season? That might be why peoples opinion have changed on him...

Also I'de like to point out that Chauncey Billups is overrated. He's known for his smarts and control but you'll notice he does some very stupid things on the basketball court.
