Baseball Sexual Innuendo: Filling the Hole at 3rd Base

Now that I've got your attention, I want to forward you all an idea of how we can possibly fill our deepest need on this team right now at third base.

Alex Gordon, who has struggled early on in his major league career is the guy I'm targetting. He has another up and coming star 3B behind him in Mike Moustakas and I think with our plethra of pitching prospects, we could offer a package of something like

Cecil, Roenicke, Ahrens or Jackson for Gordon

I would prefer to get a right handed hitting 3B just because the better prospects we have right now on the MLB roster are left handed (Lind, Wallace, Snider), but having Gordon on this team makes a ton of sense. I really have no stance on Encarnacion right now, but if he can return to that 25 HR power, I can live with that.

Thoughts on trying to get our hands on Alex Gordon?

There's a huge difference between the players offered...Ahrens has limited value unless he figures out what the 33 oz. piece of ash is for, Roenicke is a good piece but not the sort that causes GMs to wake up with cold sweats, and Cecil is a real live serious prospect. I'd do it for the first two, but KC almost certainly would not; Cecil is a different matter. I don't expect as much of him as many (really, I'm not convinced that he's more than a low-#3/high-#4 starter), but I doubt that we'd give him up for Gordon.

Alex Gordon would be awesome. I think he could blow up at any time, he has everything he needs to be great.

Have they given up on Wallace playing 3rd?

yeah Tony La'Carva said in a interview that the team has Wallace at first, so hes out Justin Jackson could be moved to third he has an excellent arm but he would need a serious rebound of a season. In the draft there is Zack Cox hes a junior collage 3rd base man who can also play second and is projected anywhere from 9th - 14th on most boards with the jays picking 11th it is very likely they could take him. Hes a left handed hitter with decent power and a very very good arm (can apparently also pitch in the 90's) I know AA wanted to take high potential high school kids but this guy is pretty much perfect for what we need.

As far as trades go i still like frasor+ solid pitching prospect + ok positional prospect for "snezzy" aka lee from the cubs and maybe look at moving him to 3rd as he has excellent lead off potential. Although i might rather use that package to get a twins OF prospect.
