Marquis signs--2yrs/15 million

Post#1 » by Jollay » Mon Dec 21, 2009 11:15 pm

Can't really argue with this one--Marquis pitched great last year. He had a 4.04 ERA in 216 IP and only gave up 15 homers all year, despite pitching in Coors Field.

Have to give props to Mike Rizzo for only giving him two years and not three. Not an exorbitant amount of money for someone who pitched that well last year and is still only 31.

I also like that Rizzo went with a righty instead of someone like Doug Davis--the projected opening rotation might have three lefties already.. I also prefer this option to Garland or Piniero.

Marquis can hit well for a pitcher as well, which is nice.

Have to wonder if we'll see Marquis or Lannan on opening day--I would guess Marquis.
