Bullpen is very much improved. It's too bad we don't have the starters to get to that bullpen. Strasburg should be in the rotation from Day 1. I mean, barring the guy from stinking up the joint in Spring Training, considering the options the Nats have, it makes sense to ease him into the 4th or 5th spot. He's pretty much the only reason why the Nationals are still relevant.
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

Nobody would complain in DC! Don't think it happens though by Opening Day. But if pitchers like Olsen and most of the other young guys turn out to be garbage in the Spring--never know.

Well, personally speaking, it's the only reason why I'm still tuning into the Nats. It's funny, the Orioles and Nats are polar opposites. The Nats have a pretty good lineup, but have no pitching. Very frustrating, a few trades, and maybe a big free agent signing, and this team could compete in the NL East, easily. At least the wild card. It only takes 83+ wins.

Amen. Based on what I heard today though, we're gonna have to wait. Mike Rizzo basically reaffirmed the, "We'll know when its time for Strasburg based on how well he does in the minors" line of thinking.

Rob Dibble threw out the analogy with Mark Prior at 21 being brought up to the Cubs because of necessity and then being done by 28, but Rizzo did say that every case is different and a guy could just as easily get arm troubles no matter where he's pitching...

So the door remains open. But I'd be surprised.

Prior was done b/c Baker pitched him into the ground. This whole time Strasburg is being touted as the savior of the franchise, etc. If this guy isn't up by Opening Day or at least by the All-Star break, fans are going to tune out. I really believe it. Not to mention the Nats have the first pick again this year, and this team could have something special in a couple of years.

I don't know, I think it totally depends if the Nats are at all respectable. The weather doesn't start getting nice until mid-May and June, so I think there'll be decent attendance through then unless the Nats are a disaster.

I think they will re-assess things around June 1st, consider it again then, and then again in September.

I'd say there's only about a 20% chance is with the team out of Spring, about 40% by the break, and about 80% by September (small chance he'll be shut down by then).

Or he could be hit by a metrobus in April, in which case we're all ####ed....
