...off waivers from the Mets. He's 37, but has generally been a guy who hits for average, especially against lefties. Unfortunately last year was not such a year--he batted .224 for the Astros and Phillies.
Will be interesting to see how the Nats use him and what they do with Nieves in the meantime.

I realize that Flores is down for a bit, but did Nieves have a bad spring? Is someone else injured? I just don't honestly get this move.

Didn't have a great Spring, as he batted just over .200, but the Nats are very nervous about Flores at this point.
Really more about depth than anything.
