I had alot of other pics, a couple good ones of Halladay warming up and the Nats' starters running down from centerfield on a red carpet by an American flag, but I apparently left them elsewhere.
Not much to say as far as the recap. Lannan did not look sharp even as he shut the Phillies out through three, and obviously his fourth was disasterous (5 runs allowed). He didn't show very good control, and after Howard hit a bomb off him, he seemed almost done.
Miguel Batista was absolutely horrible, but Jesse English and Sean Burnett did their jobs. Brian Bruney, despite throwing one scoreless inning late, did not look impressive at all, giving up a hit and walking two batters.
The offense was non-existent against Halladay, although I loved how Morgan singled, stole a base and eventually scored in the first. Pudge also had three hits, although he was nowhere close trying to gun out Jimmy Rollins stealing a base early. Obviously the Phils had no need to test his arm after they went up big after that.
Desmond had an error in his very first chance, a grounder on the shifted infield from Ryan Howard. The Nats turned a double play next batter to make up for it though.
Just a very disappointing loss and a terrible way to set the tone. It's early, but the Nats need at least one win against the Phils Wednesday and Thursday, especially with a short road trip to New York and Phily looming.
Or things could get ugly in a hurry...
