Nats at Phils

Post#1 » by Jollay » Sun Apr 11, 2010 11:05 pm

I expect half Phily's stadium to be filled with Nats fans, in retribution.

Obviously going to be a tough series; its the Phillies' home opener. Zimmerman will hopefully be back by Wednesday, or Thursday at the latest.

Washington does not see Halladay, which does help.

MATCHUPS

Marquis at Hamels (Monday)
Stammen at Kendrick (Wednesday)
Olsen at Happ (Thursday)

Nats lead 4-0 in the fourth, game 1. Marquis just hit a two-run double down the third base line, and he has yet to give up a hit through three.

Jimmy Rollins is not in the lineup, which helps.

Hamels again does not look all that impressive. 76 pitches in four innings pitched. Marquis, unlike last Wednesday, definitely does however.

Still a long way to go, but a very nice performance thus far on a big day (Home Opener) for the Phils, who are celebrating their NL pennant from last year.

Now its 7-4 Phils. Riggleman tossed for arguing strikes, and of course Rob Dibble blaming the entire rally on the umps.

Nats got three runs in the top of the first off Kendrick on a three-run double by Adam Kennedy.

Now the Phils have tied it before Craig Stammen has even gotten an out in the bottom of the first. With runners on second and third.

Zimmerman still not in the lineup for the Nats, and Rollins now on the DL for the Phils.

As I write this, the Phils now lead 4-3 with a runner on third after a sac fly. I know its the Phils, but Stammen better get his junk together in a hurry if we are to see him again past May.

This is a fun game. Went for a walk, now its 7-6 Phils. Nats have runners on second and third after a Jesse English (if he's batting, that's how bad it is) sacrifice with one out in the third.

Keep it close for Clippard, boys. He's well rested and ready...

(Now 7-7 after a Morgan sac groundout)

Clippard just brought in with the bases loaded (thanks again Brian Bruney) in the seventh, and gives up a 3-run double to Victorino.

Phils now lead 13-7.

Man, my patience is so thin with the Nats' pitchers, save for maybe Clippard, Capps, Hernandez, and Lannan right now. NL Champs though the Phils might be.

Nats will go to 3-5 with one left in Phily before the ten-game homestand...

Olsen versus Happ today at 3:05pm. Justin Maxwell called up to replace Bernadina, who was sent down. Mainly has to do with the majority of pitchers the Nats will face in the next ten games being left-handed, to include Happ today and Wolf and Davis Saturday and Sunday for the Brew Crew.

Win might create some momentum going against a very shaky Brewer club right now.

Great win for the Nats to close the series.

Zim with a pinch-hit homer and Dunn with his first bomb.

2 out of 6 from the Phillies--hey, the Nats will take that right now.
