Nats at Cubs

Post#1 » by Jollay » Sun Apr 25, 2010 11:21 pm

Three-game set between the Nats (10-9) and the Cubbies (9-10). John Lannan versus Carlos Silva, who has been good so far this year. First night game of the year at Wrigley--8:05 EDT start.

Cubs coming off a weekend sweep of the Brewers in Milwaukee, they're swinging the bats really well right now after early struggles. Still, the Cubs are getting by without much production from Derrick Lee (.227 AVG) and Aramis Ramirez (.139 AVG), although Lee hit a monster shot Sunday at Miller Park.

Carlos Zambrano is now in the pen for the Cubs, which is interesting...

Washington is feeling pretty good right now being over .500 this "late" in the season.

Nats lose 4-3 in 10. Bruney the loss, Marmol the win.

Kind of a crazy night in Chi-Town, wind was blowing IN like a champ. Lannan was good after battling through a tough third inning; went six.

Top of the order got it done with two hits apiece for Morgan, Desmond, and Willingham, as well as three hits for Dunn. But it wasn't enough.

Just not impressed with Bruney the entire year, but the Nats have to give Clippard a break at some point. I hope Bruney doesn't pull a Garrett Mock and blame his (3 BB in 1.1 IP) walks on the wind...

Bottom line, the Nats are playing the type of defense and game necessary to win alot of contests like this, or stay close. They go back to .500 for the time being, however.

Nats beat the Cubs 3-2 in the finale as Dunn and Kennedy go yard. Atilano goes six innings giving up the two runs, while Bruney, Clippard, and Capps close it in scoreless consecutive innings.

Nationals are now 12-10 going to Florida. I'm scared to death about overusing Clippard, but things are going very well especially concerning Zimmerman didn't play in the series (too cold for his hammie).

Wow. Picked the right year to buy season tickets.
