Lannan sent down

Post#1 » by Jollay » Tue Jun 22, 2010 2:39 am

Kind of surprising despite his poor performances as Riggleman came out with a big vote of confidence for him yesterday, saying Lannan's past performances warranted him a longer leash than most.

After sleeping on it, he and Mike Rizzo apparently changed their minds. Joel Peralta was recalled as an eighth reliever from Syracuse, while Lannan goes to AA Harrisburg to work with his former pitching coach.

Nats have an off-day after KC, so they don't need five starters for a while.

Lannan has really struggled....don't blame the Nats...especially when you send a guy out every 5th day and you expect to get waaaay behind.....puts too much pressure on the bullpen and then lineup.

Maybe the trip down gets his confidence and command back.

Lannan goes seven at Harrisburg and only gives up one run (unearned).
