Livo re-signed

For 2011 at an undisclosed salary. Really a move the Nats had to make with Strasburg out. Not that Livo approaches Strasburg, but he's been the one constant and a workhorse on this years' staff. Livo's stats this year:

9-9, 3.49 ERA, 1.32 WHIP, 91K, 55BB, 175.1 IP, 176 H, 2CG, .265 BAA

Livo has trailed off a little as the season has progressed, but he's been generally good. If he can just keep his ERA in the threes next year, the Nats still might be able to squeeze average performance out of their starters, depending also on the development of JZ, Stammen, and Detwiller, and if Lannan and Marquis can rebound.

The Washington Examiner reports the deal is a one-year contract for a million dollars, plus incentives. If that is the case, it's certainly hard to argue with that figure from the Nats' standpoint. There's alot of mediocre pitchers out there making alot more than that on multi-year deals.

That's basically a no risk contract given his consistency this year.
