Phillies (80-42) @ Nats (59-63)

Livo vs. Roy tonight. I expect Nats Park to be Citizens Bank Park South tonight and throughout the weekend. Lannan goes tomorrow, and Wang closes out the series on Sunday. I think we're facing Oswalt/Halladay/Lee but I'm not sure.

We'll miss either Halladay or Lee--I believe Lee who pitched on Wednesday, but get Halladay Sunday if my brains are correct...

First weekend series with the Phils--if you've never seen it, it's like Jerry Springer out in the outfield. I will bring mace Saturday night. I absolutely will after last year.

Saturday is Ian Desmond bobblehead night and is virtually sold out. Unloaded two of my four $25 tickets for $75 apiece, although I'm fairly sure I let two more a##wholes in the Park....

The Nats' players always want this series bad. It's a barometer to them and they always want to shut up the "home" crowd. Zimmerman's walk-off last year when he flipped the bat to beat the Phils was insane (although it almost started a riot).

I watched the whole thing.

Admit it, when Zimmerman came to the plate in the 9th, 2 outs, bases juiced - you had a feeling like he might to yard for a grand slam walk off.

This Nats team may not be in the playoff chase, but they're fun to watch - win or lose.

(On the flip side, I Levan is done, I think). :=(

Top 10 win in franchise history? I completely missed the game but I'm glad we won.

Yeah, missed it too, but I'm impressed Pine. Wish I had stayed up. That's two epic walk-off wins Zimmy has delivered against the Phils in two years.

Oswalt was scratched last night because of the long delay, but will go today against John Lannan.

I was watching Wall to Wall baseball, at least the last 10 minutes of it. Tom Davis and some dude named Johnson said how the NL East is inferior to the AL East, more or less because the Orioles have to face the Sox and Yankees for 36+ games a year, while the Nats only play the Phillies and Braves. Quite shocked. Phillies are arguably the best team in baseball and Atlanta has a top 3 farm system. Maybe the AL East is slightly stronger, but it was almost like they're saying the Nats being 3 games under .500 is meaningless b/c its the NL East. It's bull.

They're just making excuses for the Orioles.

The Phillies are as good as either the Yankees or the Red Sox and the Braves aren't far behind. And give me the Nats, Fish, and Mets over the Jays, Rays, and O's, although just barely.

Off to the Park!

Phillies crush the Nats 5-0. Crowd was huge last night, but really wasn't too bad, but it was easily 70% Phillies fans.

Finale today, Halladay versus Wang.

Largest crowd in Nats Park history. Funny I thought they had broken that record with Strasburg's first start but I guess I was wrong.

Nats win on a walk off hit by a pitch. Desmond tied it up in the bottom of the 9th with a homer, 0-2 count, 2 outs. CLUTCH.

They've now won I believe 5 out of their last 6 or 7 against the Phillies.

A win is a win, period.

I really enjoy watching Nats baseball. It helps take the sting out of a crappy NBA off season (with the labor problems and all).

Yup. Very enjoyable baseball, that Desmond homer off Bastardo was shocking. Just shocking.

Nats still losing the season series to Phily but these games are important. It gives the team confidence for the not-so-far off time when the Nats will be competing for a playoff birth.

Amazing, I left in the fourth inning when I heard the thunder coming. Missed two unbelievable games Friday and Sunday because of the weather.
