D-Backs(12-11) at Nats (14-8)

Post#1 » by Jollay » Tue May 1, 2012 3:25 pm

Suddenly the Nats are in jeopardy of falling back toward .500, with an anemic offense and two quality opponents coming in for a six-game homestand. Zimmermann, Jackson, and Detwiller oppose the Diamondbacks with Strasburg, Gonzalez and JZ against the Phils.

Dollar hot dog night I believe one of these days against the Diamondbacks...weather seems to be clearing up for Harper's home debut tonight. Ticket sales appear fairly brisk.

Same $3 tickets I was looking at 2 weeks ago are now around $15. Section 108 I believe. Ah well.

If Jordan Zimmerman was on the Yankees or Tigers, he'd be a 20 game winner every year. The offense is PATHETIC.

Not a bad crowd last night--LOL at the guys on 106.7 and other places taking the 22k attendance to task. It's Tuesday in SE and Harper's arrival was late-breaking news last week.

What can you say about the offense? It's painful to watch. Ankiel batting third? Come on. Plus Davey shat the bed by not having Ankiel bunt with first and second no outs in the mid-innings.

I mean, I know he's your "#3" hitter...but still.

Ankiel and Harper did throw some bullets to nail and almost nail runners last night. Always fun to watch.

West Springfield HS alum Joe Saunders in town to face Edwin Jackson tonight.

What a fantastic game last night, Desmond with the walk off homer and Harper at 19 carried this team to a victory last night. He's here to stay, there's no way you can tell people he needs to be sent down.

Nats take 2 of 3 from the Snakes with a 2-1 win last night. Big series win against a good team coming off the losing streak.

BTW I still love John Lannan, and the Nats may be the first team in history with roughly almost 13 million in starting salary to pitch in the minors all season(Lannan, Wang, Maya), but Detwiller has been fantastic.

Sub 2 ERA and stuff looks great. Talk about an overshadowed unsung hero this year....

Lannan is terrible. Detroit needs pitching, ask for a C+ or B- level prospect and get it done. He's doing himself no favors by struggling against AAA pitching.

If Wang comes back, where do you slot him? That's going to be interesting, he can't work out of the pen because apparently it takes him awhile to get loose.
