Welp, pretty much all of the 'experts' have picked the Nats to either go to the World Series and/or win it all. I've been in the DC area all my life, I vaguely remember the Skins Super Bowl victories so I don't know if they were favored to win it all heading into those seasons. Even if, I have never been around a local team that has been favored to win it all. So much pressure, excitement, anxiety that it is going to be very interesting how this all unfolds. Johnson has basically said World Series or bust.

They are starting the season off at home against the Miami Marlins, who pretty much cleaned house and are rebuilding. Strasburg takes the mound, and from all accounts, it sounds like the leash is about to be taken off.

Opening Day: Strasburg vs. Nolasco
4/3: Eovaldi vs. Gonzalez
4/4: LeBlanc vs. Zimmerman

Great job by Harper with the 2 Homers.

Youngest player ever to hit 2 home runs in his first game of the year. Strasburg was efficient, needed 80 pitches. Didn't strike out a lot of batters, but got a lot of ground ball outs.

Overall, very good opener for the Nats. Hopefully the bats wake up.

Gio didn't look particularly sharp but got the job done on the mound and hit a solo shot as the Nats shutout the Marlins for the second consecutive game. Zimmerman got a couple of hits, and I believe Span got on base 3 times last night, which is a sight to see from a leadoff hitter since we've never had one!

Storen looked sharp. Eventually he'll get to be closer again but the set up role is fine for now. I think mentally he's not all the way back from Game 5.

Jordan Z looked sharp for the most part. There's something about him though, he makes the game harder than it should be, and I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up being our 4th best pitcher. Throws too many pitches, isn't as efficient as Strasburg or even Gio, always seems to struggle but somehow manages to escape.
