Nationals: Chico will face the Braves for the first time in his career. Last Wednesday, Chico made his Major League debut, and he was hit hard. He lasted four-plus innings and gave up six runs on eight hits. Florida played home-run derby in the second and third innings against Chico. Cody Ross hit a two-run home run in the second, while Miguel Cabrera and Mike Jacobs hit solo shots in the next inning.
Braves: Hudson looked like his former dominant self while limiting the Phillies to two hits and one run on Wednesday night. He didn?t allow a hit until Carlos Ruiz homered with two outs in the fifth inning. The right-hander has his sinker working and his curveball appears to be much better than it was during last year?s forgettable season. In four career starts against the Nationals, he has worked 27 2/3 innings and allowed just five earned runs.

Nationals: Williams will face the Braves for the fourth time in his career. He is 1-0 with a 3.54 ERA against them. In his last start, Williams became the first Washington pitcher to go six innings this season. He gave up five runs -- four earned -- on six hits as the Nationals lost to the Diamondbacks, 7-1.
Braves: James battled cold and windy conditions on Thursday to limit the Phillies to one earned run in five innings. The crafty southpaw, who has added a slider to a repertoire that previously included only a fastball and curveball, was 1-1 with a 4.96 ERA in three starts against the Nationals last season. His loss to them on Sept. 19 broke a streak of eight consecutive starts in which he had allowed two earned runs or less.

Nationals: A day after having a less than stellar outing against the Diamondbacks, Nationals right-hander Jason Bergmann had a conversation with general manager Jim Bowden on Friday behind the batting cage, with Bowden doing most of the talking. According to Bergmann, Bowden made it known that he didn't like that fact that the righty walked six batters in 3 2/3 innings in the 4-3 loss. Pitching coach Randy St. Claire said that Bergmann is trying too hard and not trusting his stuff.
Braves: Redman managed to limit damage before being charged with three runs in the sixth inning of his season debut against the Mets on Friday night. While holding the Mets to just two runs through the first five innings, this soft-tossing veteran left-hander showed an ability to be crafty against arguably the National League's best lineup. He is 2-3 with a 6.00 ERA in five career starts against the Nationals.
