You always overlook that it isn't feasible within the salary cap, Simons makes north of $22M, KCP only $14M.

Although, tbh, can't say I'd be surprised to see KCP traded if Christian Braun can step up to replace him, perhaps give us enough money to sign Bruce Brown.
