Where does Artest fit? and how does he fill a need, any of them in fact? makes trades but for the first time in their lives I hope trader Mark and the rest of the front office look more at needs and role players then more egos who do not fit.

How doesn't he fit? Does he not instantly improve our perimeter d? Can't he shoot the ball? How exactly don't he fit?

with the Najera and Kleiza deal, we would still have an adequate bench:

Carter
Smith
Nene if he can come back, big if
Hunter
Yak

Artest can backup Melo and Melo can backup Artest with JR comming in to spell either one of them.

Hell, GK only goes 8 deep anyways, so why worry about the bench.

Oh, yeah forgot about the big off season acquisition in Chucky if if if if he ever gets healthy, he could possibly provide a spark off the bench at times.

I would do that trade. Melo and Artest don't need to always be on the court at the same time as you could just stagger their breaks...

Or Melo could just play more PF.

It might work just to run AI, Artest, Melo, K-Mart, Camby and Carter, AI, JR, Artest, (I'd like to say Hunter)

Without Nene the Center position is really thin.

A career 42% shooter with 32% from 3, no I would not say he helps with the shooting. As for improving our defense, he may be an upgrade but to play him one of Melo or Artest will have to play at PF which will put Kmart on the bench more, which in case you have missed Kmart it, is already our best defender this year. AS for playing Melo and Artest on the wings good luck with spreading the floor at all with that lineup, as Artest would be our best three point shooter on the floor for most of the game.

Even if it would thin out our bench, we should take the chance. The Celtics took apart their bench and got players to sign their. Sure it was in the off-season where it is much easier to acquire names, but you'd surprised at the amount of players on the waiver that can make a decent contribution.
