Did the Nuggets run up the score?

Post#1 » by MELO4MVP » Mon Mar 17, 2008 5:48 am

I'm glad they scored that many and wish we scored more, but remember that Suns game earlier in the season? The Suns were killing us and in the 4th they kept shooting threes. The team said they felt the Suns were running up the score, didn't we do the same thing in the 4th?

you just chastised taurean green for stepping on the line and not running up the score.
http://realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?t=772873

now you're upset the nuggets were scoring at will against a team that played no defense whatsoever?

what is it?

there's a 24 second shot clock in todays nba.
no starter player in the 4th quarter.
was our bench supposed to just dribble out every shot clock so the poor sonics didn't get embarrassed? isn't that more embarrassing?
the nba is a professional league. don't like being beat? play harder.
they were supposed to come with more energy after getting smoked by 42 points in the last meeting. they came with no energy.

in the suns game iverson was pissed at them for taking a bunch of 3's late in the 4th and apparently he thought they were trying to embarrass the nuggets. difference here is that iverson has a ton of pride and he came back the next game and dropped 32/5/12 enroute to a victory over phoenix. he didn't like getting smoked...he played harder.

we'll see how the sonics respond (again) on april 6th.

come on now, theres no such thing as running up the score in profesional sports, I laugh at teams who complain about it.

Sonics fan here. In a couple of different Sonics forums I have yet to read where any Sonics fan has said Denver was wrong to score as many points as they did.

Almost to a fan we think that the Sonics only have themselves to blame.

Me too. You could clearly see him on the bench, with his puffy eye, yelling that anything under 160 was unacceptable :D

Couldn't agree more. He just takes the most controversial side on any topic.

BTW, Jalen hit it dead on on First take. If you don't want the score ran up on you, play like it.

Theres no such thing as running up the score in the NBA, everyone on the court has had success somewhere along in their career and it's not a fluke that they are in the NBA... If they dont want the other team to score on them try and stop them because anyone in the NBA is capable of playing offense and defense.

Running up the score is more for people in High School and a clearly better team keeps scoring every chance they get when theyre already up by 30 or whatever.

No it doesn't. The Nugs bench was on the floor the entire 4th. Green came in with around 7 minutes left. Those guys rarely get to play, and Seattle did nothing to stop them.

As a Sonics fan too, I can say they pretty much deserved what they got. The only person who gets more blame than the team is PJ for not doing anything to try and change the outcome.

yep.
he probably should have instructed the team to slow the pace down...walk the ball up, use more of the clock, try to limit turnovers and at least make an attempt to get back on defense.

but perhaps it was a statement game by pj. ie. 'if you dont listen to me, follow the gameplan, execute and play your hearts out...this is the embarrassment you'll get' or something along those lines.

:dontknow:
