What did you think of Bargnani?

Post#1 » by RapsFanTO » Mon Mar 24, 2008 5:16 pm

Hey Nuggets fans,

Just wondering what you all thought of Bargnani after watching him play against you guys yesterday. He had a solid first quarter but didn't get much burn after that. He is obviously not that popular around the Raptors board (im not a fan of him) but I thought it would be nice for an outside perspective from your board. We over at the Raptors board can be too picky sometimes so some insight would be great.

Thanks

My opinion is that he's young, a little soft, a solid shooter, needs to work on his rebounding and defense in order to be effective. All in all, a work in progress. Too early in his career to tell how good he can/will be.....

Probably not much help...

Pretty much what he said.

He needs to drive hard to the rim, play more physical, want to seek contact and go to the line. There's too many jump-shooting big men and they're soft. Bargnani has the ability to play physical but he has to want to do it.

Defensively? He's a stiff, his feet are glued to the floor... unless he seriously works on them in the summer and every off season, I think he'll be a liability on defense.

If he's not hitting his shots (like he was for the last three quarters yesterday) I don't see him as being very effective out on the floor. Needs to rebound better, and work on his post game. Also a below average defender.

I personally don't think he fits very well next to Bosh. Both are basically jump shooting big men. Barg has a little more range, and Bosh is more effective in the high post, but neither does all that well banging in the low block.

He would be a perfect compliment to a guy like Duncan, Howard, or Brand because he would help free up the paint more for one of those guys to work down low.

if he had Najera's intensity he'd be utterly amazing.

He's obviously skilled but he's just not tough.

i would call him a bust, since he was drafted 1st overall, but if he was picked 13th or something it be different

he's extremely one-dimensional.

he's a liability on the defensive end.

the only way he contributes on the offensive end is with his perimeter shooting.

if he develops some iso moves to become an option scorer, I could see him being a poor man's dirk (okur) in his career.

he needs to rebound the ball A LOT better.

Ild agree with just about everything ive read. Hes definately young and needs to not be so soft, but potentially could be really good. I dont like his fit with the raps because he and bosh are both very weak down low.

Thanks everyone, seems like we all have roughly the same opinion of him over on the Raps board..
Hopefully BC can fleece some team by convincing them that Bargs has potential.. lol

I think he still has potential. He actually has explosiveness when he drives to the rim... but a lot of times he plays as if he's wearing weight pads on his feet. He barely jumps on his shot...

But this is his second year, give him a little bit more time.
