Or accquittal means that the star witness decided not to testify due to a large paycheck, being tired of constant death threats, and having her and her parents names dragged through the mud. I he did not rape her why did he pay her millions to avoid the trial?

Melo made a horrible, immature, irresponsible decision, and probably deserves a couple of games suspension if he is proven guilty (2, maybe 3 or so), but he is not the first, or last individual at his age to get a DUI. Let's not condemn him like he did something extremely out of the ordinary for someone in his situation, and I still do not think it is THAT much more dangerous to be driving drunk, than LeBron's 100MPH highway jamboree.

Agreed just about everybody I know has gotten behind the wheel while under the influence, some got caught, others did not. Most would agree that it was a mistake, and deserves a punishment, but it is not the end of the world.

If you have the money to avoid trial, why wouldn't you just pay for it to all go away along with the stress, possibility of jail time, and strain it would put on your career? It was the sensible thing to do. Nothing more, nothing less.

You're clearly not familiar with the physical evidence that would have been presented in Kobe's case. Our system is designed the way it is because we believe, as a whole, it's better to have a hundred guilty men go free than to have even one innocent man convicted. Let me tell you something, Kobe's one of those hundred and he's damn lucky. And people can tell themselves whatever makes them feel better about supporting a rapist and even wearing his jersey. But it doesn't change the facts or who he is.

Carmelo's DUI is not even close to being in the same category. Nowhere near close.

MY TWO CENTS?

He made a mistake, and he owned up to it. I think that what he did was wrong and could have had terrible consequences, but at least he didn't come out and deny it, he didn't come out and make excuses either.

To me, a role model doesn't have to be picture perfect in everything they do - they have to TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for things when they are wrong. We're all human, and the vast majority of us have probably driven while legally intoxicated at one point or another. The difference is that we didn't get caught....

I'm a bigger Melo supporter for that reason only. The courts will have their say, but the court of public opinion is being a little hard on the guy at this point. I don't condone what he DID, but I do support him because of the way he HANDLED it....

Melo, keep your head up, take your punishment, and move on.....And DON'T F&#@* up again!

Most of those who really quit supporting Nuggets are not visiting the Nuggets fan forums anymore! That's for sure.

That poll is just wrong. Real result should be something like:

Are you done supporting Nuggets this year because of DUI?
Yes 80%
No 10%
Bla bla bla... 10%

It is true that 10% of us support bla bla bla. Now we just have to see where it takes us.

:o I don't know, I think those who said they still support the team are right. But the question was more along the lines of all the sh** this team has been through, by choice or not, and all the ups and downs is anyone tired of the rollercoaster ride.
